Community Outreach through Ministry of Service

Continuing the tradition of Social Justice and Community Outreach, the Church of the Covenant provides needed support and services to local, regional, national and international communities. Needs are established through active Ministry of Service members collaborating with each other and their respective community or communities. The Ministry of Service is open to any Covenant member wanting to address a social or economic concern. Please contact service@covenantweb.org for more information or to volunteer.

Community Meals at Covenant

On the last Thursday of each month except November and December when the meal is moved forward one week to accommodate Thanksgiving and Christmas, church volunteers work with a dedicated crew of CWRU student volunteers to prepare a healthy, home cooked meal for anyone who'd like to break bread together in Dowd Commons. The meal runs from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. and everyone is welcome.

Stirring Up Hope!

Saturday Morning Tutoring

The Saturday Tutoring Program at The Church of the Covenant provides free tutoring services for students in grades 1-12 from over two dozen local school districts. The program occurs in an environment of mutual learning and respect to help students achieve their academic goals. Tutors and students cover a variety of subjects including math, reading, and science. Our volunteer tutors come from universities, church congregations, service organizations, and the community at-large. For more information or to volunteer, click the link below.

Each week our Stirring Up Hope soup ministry volunteers share 20 gallons of soup, or roughly 150 servings, with neighbors, students, and visitors who walk past our church. A partnership with Old Stone Church and Edwin's Leadership and Restaurant Institute, this ministry is funded through next fall so many more volunteers are needed.

On the last Wednesday and Friday of each month (except November and December due to holidays, when food pantry distributions are moved forward one week), the Church of the Covenant distributes bags of pantry essentials to help those in need of help to stretch their food budget make it through the month.
