And what does the Lord require of us?
The Church of the Covenant
Mission
Study 2003
Renewing the Future of the Covenant for Ministry and
Mission
In the fall of 2003, the Church of the Covenant completed a "Mission Study." A Mission Study is the Presbyterian equivalent of a strategic plan. The process involves determining where we are and where we want to be at the end of a specified period. For this Mission Study we selected three to five years. Here are some of the highlights and Ministry Initiatives that developed from this study. For more on the Study or to become involved with a Ministry Initiative, please send your request to secretary1@core.com.
Core
Values
A core
value is a basic principle or belief.
It is “how we do business.”
Our core values are not something we wish to be, but
what we are and what is actually lived out in the life and
ministry of our congregation.
The order in
which core values are listed does not reflect priority.
A
ministry initiative is a broad ministry activity.
It is in carrying out each initiative that we will
live into the vision of the Covenant.
The ministry initiatives include both new activities
for The Church of the Covenant as well as the redevelopment
or expansion of something that we are already doing to make
it more effective or increase the vitality, energy and
purpose of the activity.
Initiatives build on Covenant’s heritage and
present traditions of superb preaching and music, social
justice, and mission.
Internal Ministry Initiatives
Internal
ministry initiatives focus on The Church of the Covenant as
a community of the faithful.
The internal ministry initiatives address how we can
become a more welcoming community, including a focus on
youth and expanded worship opportunities; empowering members
and participants for ministry in their daily lives, and
fully involving members in the life of the church.
Additional initiatives address structural shifts,
such as examining the role of Deacons and prioritizing
programs within the budgeting process.
a)
The Church of
the Covenant, through the efforts of the congregation and
staff, will be a welcoming
community for all members, participants and
visitors.
