The Interfaith Center

The church's associate pastor, Laury Larson, the visionary behind the project, says the Interfaith Center will “visibly honor the religious diversity” of students and community residents and “broaden religious experience, tolerance, and understanding.” One of the first to visit the center was Rick Ufford-Chase, moderator of the 2004 General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). He called the center a model for what ought to be happening on every campus. “We are living in a time when those who would use our faith traditions for violent ends are highjacking our faith,” he said. “That is why it is so critical to dialogue now so that we will not allow our respective traditions to be used for inappropriate ends.”

Protestant and Catholic Christians are meeting together regularly with Jews and Muslims at a new Interfaith Campus Center housed at a Presbyterian church in Cleveland, Ohio. The center, which includes office and worship space, is located in the education wing of the Church of the Covenant, on the campus of Case Western Reserve University.
