Sunday School Calendar 2009-2010
December 6, 13 Advent: The Birth of Jesus January 10, 17, 24 Jesus’ Baptism February 7, 14, 28 Teaches: Build on This Foundation! May 2, 9, 16 Jesus Washes Disciples’ Feet May 23, 30 June 6 Pentacost Birth of the Church For those who are not familiar with the Workshop Rotation program, the lessons are taught by volunteers from the congregation and are broken up into three week rotations. This means a commitment to teach a rotation, means a commitment of only three Sundays out of the year. This year we have a need for twenty-four volunteers. Without volunteers from the congregation, the Workshop Rotation model does not operate. We have been blessed over the years with several congregation members who teach a rotation each year, we welcome you all back! We do, however, have a need for new teachers and shepherds. The program has been hit unusually hard by the loss of teachers and shepherds to relocation, and attrition. Please consider helping us; this program is completely dependant on your participation! Last year we had enough volunteers that only two teachers taught more than one rotation. And those instructors who taught two volunteered to do so! For those who are not sure about teaching, we do have a need for shepherds for the rotations. Shepherds act as chaperones, supporting the teachers, and guiding the children to their classes and choir rehearsals. Speaking from my experience, and the experience of those who have participated, teaching and/or shepherding the Workshop Rotation is a wonderful way to meet the children, as well as a way to reintroduce yourself to the stories that you learned in Sunday School. I am happy to speak with anyone interested. Please contact me, Jim Miller, to inquire on teaching, and John Marsh to inquire on shepherding. A great addition to our resources last year was a brand new computer, printer and video camera with a host of wonderful audiovisual software to assist those who are interested in teaching a computer/audiovisual workshop. The computer is fitted with wireless Internet access and is in a rolling cabinet that can easily be rolled from classroom to classroom! Also appropriate to note is that the CE website will be updated soon with fresh information on the upcoming year and access to the 2009-2010 CE and Children’s Choir calendar. Please consider fulfilling the commitment we all make at baptism of teaching our children and raising them in the faith! Sincerely, Jim Miller, CE Committee Chairman
